Spiderwood

Spiderwood, with its light hue and unique, gnarled forms, is a favorite type of wood for many hardscape enthusiasts.

The natural, winding appearance of this wood offers a beautiful complement to stones in any aquarium or terrarium. The peculiar pieces and curves in the wood give a dynamic look, adding an artistic touch to any setting.

Nevertheless, it is essential to consider a few things if you want to introduce Spiderwood into your aquarium.

When the wood is first placed in water, it may initially show an oily substance or even a white slimy layer.

These phenomena are caused by the natural bacteria in the wood and can initially lead to some fungi.

But don't worry; this is a temporary phenomenon. Generally, these symptoms disappear on their own within a few weeks.

To ensure this transition period goes smoothly and to minimize unwanted effects, we strongly advise soaking Spiderwood thoroughly first.

This process involves placing the wood in water for a certain period, regularly changing the water, and thus removing the initial substances that are released.

Whether you have a large aquarium or a smaller setting, there's a Spiderwood size to suit you. They are available in:

      • XL for centerpieces or large aquariums (40cm or longer)
      • Large 30-40 cm
      • Medium 20-30 cm
      • Small up to 20 cm long
      • And for those who like to add a personal touch, there are also Twigs to get creative with.

With proper care and preparation, Spiderwood can be a beautiful, natural addition to your aquatic landscape.
