Driftwood (Mangrove wood) is a beautiful type of wood for aquariums. Thanks to its irregular character, you can create a unique underwater world. The branches/roots can optionally be covered with various moss species and epiphytes. In combination with aquarium stones, you create the most natural look.
Driftwood will float initially and release tannins that stain the water brown. This can be reduced by first 'soaking' the wood for a while. Over time, the discoloration of the water will diminish, and you can then place it in the aquarium.
